Our People and Organisational Development Team find the people we need to keep on track to beat heartbreak from the world’s biggest killers. They find talent and they make sure it’s nurtured. They see leadership potential and make sure it’s realised. In short, they are the team who make sure our people have what they need to thrive.

The team of more than 70 delivers a full human resources and volunteering service, learning and development, internal communications, facilities management and health and safety. And everyone, whatever their role, is committed to making the British Heart Foundation somewhere we can all be happy and proud to work.

    What drew you to the BHF?

    I aspired to work here due to the charity’s size and reach, and I knew that the BHF would support me to grow professionally. Also, like so many, my family has been affected by heart disease, so I wanted to join the fight.

    What do you enjoy most about your role?

    The amazing people I get to work with and the variety. No two days are the same. My role spans the organisation so I get a fascinating insight into all the incredible work that the BHF does.

    What inspires you in your working life?

    Knowing that I am helping the BHF to work towards our mission by recruiting people who are committed to continuing our work.

    What attracted you to the BHF?

    When I first joined BHF in 2011 as an Area Manager in Retail, I was attracted by the opportunity to use my retail experience in a charity setting. Working with the shop managers and their teams of volunteers, and seeing what was being achieved, opened up a whole new dynamic for me and it was then I moved into volunteer management.

    What inspires you?

    The work that our volunteers do to support the charity and their local community is truly inspirational. I want to help to make it as easy as possible for people to carry out their volunteering and feel recognized for what they do and for their managers to support them in a way that’s is right for them and for the BHF.

    Inspiring. Exciting. Motivating.
