Our talented team are dedicated to recruiting, developing and supporting the exceptional workforce that the BHF needs to win the fight against heart disease. We identify and build on talent in our staff and volunteers, develop leadership, and put in place everything that our people need to do the best work of their lives.

It’s an exciting time to join POD as we’re driving the BHF’s aim to becoming a world class employer and a world class place to volunteer by 2020. The BHF workforce is passionate and hard-working, and it’s our job to make sure everyone has the opportunity to develop and reach for their next challenge.

The POD team of over 70 delivers a full human resources service, learning and development, internal communications, facilities management and health and safety. We work directly with colleagues and, strategically, through business partnering with directorates across the BHF. It is our vision to make the difference for all of us to be the heroes BHF needs to succeed.

    What drew you to the BHF?

    I aspired to work here due to the charity’s size and reach, and I knew that the BHF would support me to grow professionally. Also, like so many, my family has been affected by heart disease, so I wanted to join the fight.

    What do you enjoy most about your role?

    The amazing people I get to work with and the variety. No two days are the same. My role spans the organisation so I get a fascinating insight into all the incredible work that the BHF does.

    What inspires you in your working life?

    Knowing that I am helping the BHF to work towards our mission by recruiting people who are committed to continuing our work.

    What attracted you to the BHF?

    When I first joined BHF in 2011 as an Area Manager in Retail, I was attracted by the opportunity to use my retail experience in a charity setting. Working with the shop managers and their teams of volunteers, and seeing what was being achieved, opened up a whole new dynamic for me and it was then I moved into volunteer management.

    What inspires you?

    The work that our volunteers do to support the charity and their local community is truly inspirational. I want to help to make it as easy as possible for people to carry out their volunteering and feel recognized for what they do and for their managers to support them in a way that’s is right for them and for the BHF.

    Inspiring. Exciting. Motivating.
