Working at the British Heart Foundation is unique due to its strong emphasis on collaboration, support, and a shared mission to save lives. During a recent project I worked on everyone, from data analytics to IT and BI, from Finance to Central Operations and Retail came together seamlessly. Everyone worked tirelessly to integrate new data sources, build new reporting dashboards. The constant support and open communication among team members made it possible to deliver the project on time and exceed expectations. Dev - Retail Analytics & Reporting Manager
BHF is a leader in the Charity sector due to investing in technology & people. We are always encouraged to communicate our opinions, ideas & thoughts about all areas of the business and during our PDR (Personal Development Review) conversations, I have always felt encouraged to pursue my goals & aspirations & offered support. I have always felt that I can be open & honest about myself & I will not be judged or discriminated against. Hayley - Retail Internal Auditor
I lead the team in Wales and am an ambassador for the organisation as we aim to grow support, income and influence across Wales. I work in collaboration across many teams to develop and deliver strategic activity with maximum impact in Wales. The work is so varied, and no two days are the same, but one of greatest honours is meeting and thanking our fantastic supporters and hearing their stories how research funded by the BHF have impacted their lives. Collaboration for me and my team is key, because we work across several directorates. As a leader it's important to try and create a positive team environment where each person feels empowered and enjoys the collaborative approach to our work. Rhodri - Head of BHF Cymru
I joined BHF as a social media executive 3 years ago and was quickly entrusted with significant responsibilities which included working on several campaigns and projects across the business. Within a year my career rapidly progressed, and I was promoted to Senior Executive, where I took on the responsibility of leading the social media teams contributions for our Brand Integrated Moments. This opportunity allowed me to work with many teams across the business to create new content that helped bring our Brand vision alive on our social media channels. Additionally, I’ve had the rewarding opportunity to line-manage, which has deepened my passion for mentoring and supporting others in their professional growth. Attiya - Senior Social Marketing Executive
My role as Senior Product Delivery Manager means I have a very varied work schedule. One day I can be deep into budgeting and finance, the next engaging with creative colleagues, discussing the look and feel of campaigns launching. I also really enjoy the work life balance where I work from home and in the office, enabling more focussed time or face to face interaction and collaboration. Our online tech also makes working remotely really easy should virtual collaboration be the plan for the day, meaning there is always a way of completing the days goals. Kate - Senior Product Delivery Manager
I joined the BHF as the very first office-based apprentice back in 2017, which remains one of my proudest professional achievements for the relationships I built and experiences and knowledge I gained during this time. During my university studies, I was lucky enough to be able to re-join the BHF during the holidays to continue my development, and after university secured a role within the Internal Communications team, where I have absolutely loved working for the past 4 years! Hannah - Internal Communications
Collaboration between our team and other departments within BHF is rooted in a shared commitment to achieving common goals that benefit the organisation as a whole. When we come together to work on projects, building relationships to collaborate is really easy as everyone is friendly and supportive, which helps us approach challenges with creativity and confidence, knowing that our ideas will be met with enthusiasm and respect. Hak -Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Shortly after joining the BHF, I was offered the opportunity to have the support of an internal coach. I found the experience very useful in helping me to define our career ambitions and what next steps I should take. More recently, I have applied to take part in the Data Insight for Business Decision Apprenticeship scheme. I have just started a 13-month programme, and I am looking forward to gaining new skills and using them to be even more effective in my job and progress my career. Anita - Strategic Planning and Performance Manager
Part of my role is to constantly look at how we improve a number of key systems that supports our shops, stores and teams operate and raise vital funds for BHF, part of this is making sure the user experience is as seamless as possible and that the systems are adapted to meet the needs of the users, weather that be ability to change colour pallet to make it easier for those visually impaired or just simplifying language so no one feels left out. James - Product Owner
I joined as a Programme Manager and have since progressed through a number of different roles. My career mirrors in a lot of ways the growth of technology at the BHF - from being a team of 50 operating very much as a back-office IT function, we're now 150 people strong, with a Chief Technology Officer on the Exec Group, and a raft of transformation programmes that will enable our technology to be sector leading. BHF is an extremely collaborative organisation by its nature, and ultimately technology is all about connecting people better. All our work is focused on developing and improving the customer experience, so working closely with other parts of the organisation is critical to being able to do this. There's a real willingness to help other people and support cross-organisational objectives, working together to deliver some quite complex things. Nic - Director of Technology, Marketing & Digital
