Join the British Heart Foundation as a Senior Press Officer and play a pivotal role in shaping national campaigns that inspire millions to shop, donate, and volunteer. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Senior Press Officer to join our dynamic Media team to support the charity’s retail arm. Drawing on your experience in a busy press office and your understanding of the media landscape, you’ll help create, manage and deliver effective and creative media campaigns that connect with people, spark conversations and challenge the perceptions of charity retail.
You’ll be part of a team that thrives on collaboration and fresh ideas and with your experience, you’ll help manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. We turn those challenges into opportunities and deliver campaigns to an exceptional standard.
You’ll play a key role in our fast-paced press office, spotting opportunities, and responding to media enquiries. You'll participate in our out of hours service on a rotational shift basis.
About you
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Senior Press/Media Officer or Press/Media Officer ready to take the next step and lead with confidence.
- Excellent communication and creative skills – a natural storyteller with a flair for crafting accurate, engaging and compelling written and verbal communications.
- Media knowledge – a strong understanding of the media landscape and what makes stories resonate and truly drive impact.
- Retail savvy – a strong understanding of the retail landscape, paired with a genuine passion for charity retail and all things preloved.
- Problem solver – someone who approaches challenges with creativity, resilience and turns obstacles into opportunities.
- Campaign leadership – skilled in writing and pitching press releases to national media, with a track record of leading successful campaigns and landing coverage.
- Relationship builder – ability to foster strong connections with journalists, internal stakeholders and colleagues alike.
Working arrangements
This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week, on average, in our London Office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
The role will also involve travel across the UK for shoots and campaigns.
Working hours are 9-5, Monday to Friday. Plus you'll participate in our out of hours service on a rotational shift basis.
