We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to play a leading role in supporting our Medical directorates strategic planning, operational monitoring, and reporting activities.
Our Medical directorate is responsible for delivering British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) mission by investing in cardiovascular research and innovation, supporting and involving patients and the public to save and improve lives. To undertake this, the directorate is structured into three broad areas, Research, Health, and the cross-cutting function of Health Insight.
As our Operations Manager you’ll manage our directorate-wide, internal operational activities and you’ll work closely with our Director of Operations in reviewing and monitoring was of working within the directorate, identifying and implementing changes to ensure processes are streamlined and effective.
Working in partnership with our Portfolio Manager you’ll support and enable the directorate leadership team to convert strategy into action through effective planning and prioritisation, collaboration, and engagement. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders across the business to support our work, with the continued implementation of the new research and health strategies there is also an opportunity for the role to continue to evolve to support our work.
Responsibilities will evolve with the continued implementation of our new research and health strategies and this role will play a vital role in supporting our work and developing these strategies.
Working arrangements
This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week, on average, in our London Office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
About you
With strong project management and meeting practices skills (papers, agendas, actions and minutes), you’ll have a strong understanding of the principles of good organisational governance and decision-making.
You’ll have previous experience in supporting complex projects / programmes, as well as an understanding of the relationships between planning, performance and, strategic decision-making governance.
With previous experience of senior stakeholder management, you’ll also have the following skills and experience:
- Clear, proactive, confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to undertake work in confidence, prioritising and manage your time independently
- Able to understand ‘the big picture’ and navigate the complexities of a large organisation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to interpret senior, strategic, and operational discussions
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
