  • The opportunity

  • Our vision is a world where everyone has a healthier heart for longer. Through pioneering research, campaigning and support services, we're helping people live longer, healthier lives.

As our technology landscape continues to evolve we're looking for a technical Product Owner to join us and own the roadmap, performance and continuous improvement for our  Platform Engineering & Production Operations, prioritising the engineering capabilities that keep British Heart Foundation's (BHF) digital estate secure, stable and continuously running.

This is an exciting opportunity to treat the platform as a product for internal engineering customers, shaping the backlog across platform and infrastructure engineering, production operations, and information security enhancements.

    What you'll be doing

You'll set the direction for a multi-disciplinary Scrum team, balancing operational stability, security, evergreening and modernisation while making transparent, evidence-based trade-offs.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Contributing to setting the direction for a multi-disciplinary Scrum team and owning, shaping and prioritising work across various workstreams that support the platforms and systems powering the BHF website.
    • Translating and shaping stakeholder requirements for the build, deployment and continuous improvement of technical products, systems and platforms.
    • Prioritising information security and compliance work across the platforms and systems powering the BHF website.
    • Providing product leadership for BHF's systems and platforms – contributing to the strategy and vision of these aspects of the website tech stack.
    • Enhance the experience of developer tools and workflows, improving developer experience, self-service and platform reliability so teams can build, test and release safely and at pace.
    • Act as a trusted advisor and product owner for strategic technology partnerships, ensuring supplier delivery and emerging capabilities translate into measurable value.
    • Build executive-level alignment in a matrix organisation, setting product and platform standards, documenting new capabilities and championing Agile product management across BHF.
    About you

An experienced Product Owner you’ll be able to combine broad technical curiosity and strong product judgement with platform and engineering depth to lead credible conversations, challenge constructively and turn complex needs into clear priorities.

    You'll bring:
    • Significant experience as a technical Product Owner in an enterprise organisation, ideally owning a platform, infrastructure, operations or security-focused backlog.
    • A deep understanding and curiosity for technical concepts, architectures and integrated systems
    • Experience leading end-to-end technical delivery through Scrum, managing requirements from discovery and refinement through to deployment, live operation and continuous improvement.
    • Experience creating robust user stories and acceptance criteria, reducing ambiguity and collaborating with engineers, testers, delivery managers and other specialists.
    • Strong stakeholder management, supplier governance and negotiation skills, able to build buy-in and provide trusted technical product advice.
    • Able to balance internal-customer needs, reliability, security, operational stability and change, while demonstrating ROI through effective benefit and cost management.
    • Excellent strategic thinking, planning, resilience and collaborative leadership, alongside a commitment to evolving technologies and continuous improvement.

    Working arrangements

This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week, on average, in our London office. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

    Interview process

1st stage interviews will be held via MS Teams. 2nd stage interviews will be held in person, at our London offices, and will incorporate a presentation element.
