  • The opportunity

  • Are you an experienced organisational design and operating model specialist who can turn complex transformation challenges into practical, evidence-led solutions? We’re looking for a Senior Lead - Organisational Design & Operating Model to join British Heart Foundation on a 6–8-month fixed term contract and play a pivotal role in shaping how key functions are set up for the future.

    About the role

As part of our People & Organisational Development directorate, you’ll shape future-state Target Operating Models (TOMs) that help BHF become more sustainable, efficient and digitally enabled.

Working with senior leaders and key stakeholders you’ll review services, processes, capabilities, structures, governance, technology and ways of working. You’ll then turn this insight into clear recommendations and practical transition roadmaps.

This is a high-profile transformation role where you’ll set design principles, assess current arrangements and develop future-state options that balance experience, efficiency and organisational effectiveness. You’ll identify ways to simplify, consolidate, automate or redesign services. You’ll also improve self-service, reduce duplication and make support easier to access.

Working with Technology, Transformation and Digital teams, you’ll ensure future processes make best use of digital capability, including Workday, automation, AI-enabled services, case management and knowledge management.

You’ll build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, facilitate workshops and design sessions, and translate insight into executive-level decision papers. Your recommendations will be supported by workforce, financial and benefits analysis.

At the end of the fixed term contract, you’ll leave a clear legacy: current-state assessments, future-state TOM recommendations, service delivery and governance proposals, workforce and resource plans, technology opportunities, benefits assessments and a practical implementation roadmap.

    About you

We’re looking for a credible, strategic and commercially aware transformation professional with significant experience of leading Target Operating Model. You’ll have demonstrable experience in organisational design, workforce transformation or operating model review programmes in large, complex organisations.

With strong knowledge of operating model design, organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and change management, you’ll have previous experience and the ability to redesign HR, People, Shared Services, Customer Experience or Corporate Functions to improve efficiency, effectiveness and experience.

Confident using data and insight, you’ll build clear recommendations, and influence senior stakeholders through constructive challenge, facilitation and compelling communication. You’ll be comfortable presenting to Executive and Board-level audiences and turning complex information into practical decision papers, business cases and implementation plans.

Experience of Workday-enabled transformation, automation, AI-enabled services, case management or knowledge management tools would be highly beneficial. Previous experience in shared services, HR functions, centres of expertise, charity, retail, healthcare or other customer-facing sectors would also be advantageous.

Above all, you’ll be collaborative and outcome-focused, with a passion for improving organisational effectiveness, creating better experiences for colleagues, volunteers and customers, and helping BHF deliver its ambitions for the future.

    Working arrangements

Please note this is a 6-8 month fixed term contract.

This is a hybrid role, where your work will be split between your home and at least one day per week in our London office. This may vary from time to time so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

    Interview process

Interviews will be held via MS Teams and take place whilst the role is live and into w/c 14th September.
