At British Heart Foundation (BHF) we are committed to supporting the 7.6 million people across the UK living with heart and circulatory conditions. This role plays a vital part in that mission by ensuring our online health information remains trusted, accessible and easy for people to use when they need it most.
As our SEO & Health Content Specialist, you’ll refine and adapt existing health information for digital audiences, ensuring content is accurate, supportive, aligned with PIF TICK standards and grounded in user needs. Working closely with the Health Content Team, Digital teams and subject matter experts across BHF, you’ll create and publish high performing content that reflects best practice in content design, accessibility, language and formatting.
Supporting the SEO Manager, you’ll help strengthen BHF’s search visibility, optimise content for organic performance and contribute to strategies that protect our trusted health information in an evolving generative AI landscape. You’ll also use insight, analytics and user research to continually improve user journeys, making it easier for people to quickly and confidently find the information they need.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you’ll be an experienced digital content specialist with a strong background in creating or managing health information for online audiences. You bring proven expertise in content design principles, plain English and user centred thinking able to simplify complex medical information into clear, empathetic and accessible content that connects with diverse audiences.
Additionally you'll have demonstrable experience applying SEO strategies to improve organic search performance, including keyword research, on page optimisation and structured formats and you’re confident using tools such as GA4, Google Search Console and SEMrush to inform decisions and track performance.
You’ll have experience working with CMS platforms, digital publishing workflows and design tools such as Figma. You’ll be comfortable testing for accessibility, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards, and embedding inclusive language throughout your work.
A collaborative team player, you’ll have experience working in cross functional environments, codesigning content with health specialists and building strong stakeholder relationships. You’ll be confident advising colleagues on SEO, content design or CMS best practice, and able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
If you’re motivated by improving access to trusted health information and shaping content that supports people, we’d love to hear from you.
